WordPress just expanded their stats page… the page now provides all time stats. I looked at the all time post count for the posts in this blog and noticed something interesting.
The top post is something on FM stations in Chennai. I thought so, since this is the post that receives maximum number of spam comments. The second spot was rather surprising… Review of Imsai Arasan movie. The movie itself was average/bad, but can’t believe that the post got so many hits. Review of Indiralogathil… already has so many hits within a week of the post. I am repeating again… Whatever it is, please don’t watch the movie.

I was just cleaning up some stuff in my wordpress account and it was acting funny for a while. Then all of a sudden, everything in my blog got wiped out (see screenshot below). I think I got in the middle of some data backup/move process or something like that. The posts came back online after a while…

We all know that the rainbow is made up of seven different colors. Ok. Technically, the rainbow contains the entire spectrum of colors, but generally, we define the rainbow to have seven colors (Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red). This is what I learnt in school and this is what I thought were the colors of the rainbow until…
until I saw an episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on the Disney channel (courtesy, my 2 year old son
). Anyway, this is an episode where the colors are lost in the world and they have to find objects of different colors in order to bring the colors back to the world. And I was surprised when they mentioned just six colors as colors of the rainbow. The six colors were Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple.
Since when did this get changed. Maybe I was not aware. So I googled and landed on this wiki page. It still says that there are seven colors of rainbow. Or is purple a combination of Violet and Indigo. Even if yes, how can they alter something basic like this. Maybe the rainbow’s that appear here in the US have only 6 colors
.

The pumps at gas stations have a sticker which says the maximum limit for a transaction using a Visa or Mastercard is $50. I have always wondered whether I would ever hit that mark since I was owning an Accord and not a truck/SUV. But I was wrong.
Today, when I filled my tank, I hit the $50 mark and the transaction automatically stopped. The gas price was $3.589/gallon. I never imagined that the price would reach so high that I would hit the $50 mark trying to fill gas in my car…
With the way the gas prices are shooting up, maybe they ought to start increasing the max limit per transaction to something more

After several years of being invite only, Gmail is open for all. But I am guessing that by now, everyone who would have wanted to have a Gmail account would be having one because of the chain of invites that Google had been giving to existing users all along
Anyway, it’s open now!!!

Not sure how many times I have to come up with similar titles for a post.
We had just settled in our new place and things were getting to normal… That’s when I was told that I had to leave to US for work related stuff. I was working on a US based project (like most s/w engineers in India) and I had to come to the client site. I was told about this with just about 3 weeks notice and since I was going to travel with my family, it was too hectic to plan the entire stuff.
Anyway, I came to US on 6th and I have to come to Lansing, MI. I haven’t gone around the town much yet, but it looks like this is an nice town. This is not too big like NewYork or Chicago and the life is not too fast. This not too small like Rolla (where I had studied few years back), assuming that you can call Rolla a town. My friends who had been there won’t probably call it a town.
I am yet to find an apartment here. I am currently in the hotel and I need to move to an apartment by next weekend.
I think I should be able to blog more often with a little extra time that I might get over here… Let’s see.

After shifting to the new place, it has taken about four weeks to get my Airtel phone line (that I use for DSL) transferred. I had given a shifting request a week before I moved out of my old place.
It has taken four weeks for Airtel to connect me back to the rest of the world. Airtel was supposed to be the best in customer service, but I was surprised at this delay. But I was told that the delay was because they were waiting on some permission from Chennai Corporation for some trenching work and this took almost a month. Wish things moved little faster.. Atleast Airtel came today (Sunday!!!) and configured my modem and switch.
And btw, I am writing this from my Vista RC1 machine…
