Fall photographs

Posted by Sankar on November 4, 2007

Some interesting fall photographs that I had taken on a recent trip to Upper Peninsula in Michigan, US. As usual, click on the image to see it in full size.

The next couple were taken with the camera placed on the road…. Just wanted to experiment with the framing a little bit 🙂

This is a typical close up shot of the leaves.

Nikon Digital Learning Center

Posted by Sankar on August 25, 2007

I just came across Nikon Digital Learning Center . It has some photography tips and articles.

The articles are primarily grouped into 5 categories namely Action, Nature, People, Travel and Close Up. An “How Do I” section targets some basic stuff. There is also a section that is targetted on pros.

The site offers some nice selection of articles. Check it out.

Few more…

The last set of the lot coming below…

The blue one below was probably the best of the lot that I saw. It was big and the wings were kinda of glittery. Tried several times to take a better shot, but couldn’t… this was probably the best.

Finally, a shot with multiple butterflies…

More photos…

Posted by Sankar on April 7, 2007

The following one has transparent wings… I never knew that butterflies had transparent wings.

The next couple were probably the biggest (with respect to the wingspan) I saw over there.

Few more photos coming on the next post.

Photos from foremost butterflies

Posted by Sankar on April 6, 2007

Here are a couple of photos… All the photos were taken with Canon Powershot G5 in the macro mode. As usual, click on the photos to view the larger size.

The light from the back didn’t help this shot much, but you get a decent view of the wings.

I couldn’t get any close on this. The butterfly was a a bit far from the walkway. The 4x optical zoom could get only this close. Didn’t want to use the digital zoom as it spoils the picture quality.

The colors on the following one was really good.

Foremost Butterflies

Posted by Sankar on April 4, 2007

If you are even remotely interested in photography like me, then I am sure that you will really like this place… It is a butterfly gallery in MI and you can really look at butterflies up, close and personal. It provides great photo opportunities. I will soon upload the photos that I took with my G5. But I really wish I had an SLR for this… 🙂

Photos from team dinner…

Posted by Sankar on October 16, 2006

I just couldn’t stop myself from posting some of the snaps from K750i. We went on a team dinner last Friday and I took a couple of panaromic pictures.

The area was dimmly lit and hence had to enable the night mode. With that on, the pics came out pretty good. I just couldn’t get an exact overlay and hence you see the ghost parts in the image.

Weekend Trip

Posted by Sankar on June 22, 2006

This weekend, I had gone to Coimbatore to attend a friend’s reception. Well, that is just an excuse to get out of Chennai. We spent most of the time roaming around. We had gone to Black Thunder. We also went to some forest near Pollachi which was very good.

I had taken my digicam to take photos. But after about a day and half of hard hitting, the camera couldn’t take it anymore. It shut down due to lack of battery. And guess what came to the rescue 🙂 Sony Ericsson K750i. The photos below were taken in the mobile and this is the first time since I got the phone that I put it to a real test with respect to photos. I am pretty much impressed. Some of the landscape photos were really good.

But I was very much impressed by the mobile’s ability to process photos on the fly. The photo below is a panaromic one that is made up of three individual ones. The phone allows a max of 3 photos for a panaromic image and the photos were stiched (the term for combining the photos) on the fly and saved as a panaromic image.
